Cracked dirt doesn't mean it is dry...in fact it can still be way to wet for pumpkin if it is cracked on the surface. This meter is what I use to see when watering must be done. This is likely the cause of the slowed growth at shady alpha patch. Will stop all watering here for at least 4-5 days to see if growth picks up.
