I'm having some more trouble with my Stidwill plant. The new main has develoed a hairline transverse crack, 2 nodes before the developing female. This plant is fragile, but a great grower. I have females on 2 side vines before the new main which I will pollinate. I may have to turn one of them into the new main. I'll decide over the next week. I still believe this plant has good potential, given the size of the "factory" I have to produce a pumpkin. If it grows something over 1000 pounds, I'm going to grow it again next year, being careful to not loose the main, and taking advantage of it's early pollination potential. I figure I've lost at least 2 weeks growth on this plant because of my mistakes. Live and learn.
