On the grass side I put 2 ft long 1/2 inch diameter rebar pieces every 2 feet. Then I slip a 5 ft long 1/2 inch diameter pvc pipe over the rebar. Each pipe had a hole drilled through it at the top where the zip tie attaches it to the shade cloth and the shade cloth clip.
