here is the 1041. you can see in all 4 new pics i have to catch up on my weeding this weekend. not out of control, but have had a busy work week this week and have not weeded since last sunday. got all weekend to catch up. also haven't buried vines and added mych since tuesday night. that will happen tonight as well. the females on the 1041 were pinched at 9' and 12' to let the plant get more established before pollinating. got one in the cluster that should fall at about 16'. it ain't easy snipping a female at 12' but it needed to be done. that plant is gaining energy every day and the new secondaries are stronger ones. i needed more plant to get the critical 10 day pumpkin measurement respectable. the plant had a tendencey to have every other secondary stunted to start with. i just angled all good secondaries backwards to make up the spaces and have the new ones angling back as well. after hooking the main to the center of the patch after 15' to give myself more room before the plant hits the fence, the secondaries on the right side by angling backwards will have plenty of room as i make the curve. when i hook the mains at the ends like this, the secondaries normally get stacked close side by side due to the inside area of the curve shortening their gaps. so actually, the stunted secondaries that were worse on the right side of the plant gave me room to make all the secondaries fit in on that side of the plant with the curve. the female is still very small in the cluster and should open about july 2nd. hopefully that one takes or otherwise this plant won't have a pumpkin pollinated until about july 7th or 8th otherwise. that is not terribly late, but i have never had to go past the 4th of july for pollinations in the past.
