What a year here in Iowa so far. From all the snow then a cold spring to big storms and tornado's then all this flooding! I am lucky to have anything alive no less than a 2 hundred pound pumpkin growing. I feel it is very slow but Then I went for a drive to the farm and all the corn is yellow or dead from flooding out or sitting in water for too long. They are still planting beans but I think it is too late. The plants at the farm are small but the deer seem to be leaving them alone for now. Just to have plants that are growing I am lucky.
I just got done bailing hay for the first time this year. We are usually doing our second cutting by now but you need 3 days with out rain and we finally got it. Maybe July and August will be nice and we can get some watermelon and pumpkins set. Trying to get anything to the fair August 12th will be a challenge.
