My 1096 this evening. Over the weekend while working in the patch I spotted the dreaded squash vine borer moth landing on my 1096. I killed it with my flip flop. Then I got to thinking that they could be laying eggs all day while I’m at work. I came to Big Pumpkins.com and looked up what the eggs look like. My wife and I went out to the patch to see if we had any. There we were crawling in the patch looking on the stems for eggs. Sure enough we pulled off about a dozen brown oval eggs. No matter how thoroughly I check for eggs I know I’ll miss some. I have to hope my systemic and contact insecticides will take care of them. A svb infestation is what ended my season in July last year.
