greenhouses are down and the plants got their first taste of strong sun with barely a cloud in the sky today and temps at 80 degrees. waited until 2 pm so they got a half day acclimated before a full day of sun tomorrow and 85 degree temps. the misting system has been set up as well as the sprinklers. tomorrow they will get misted while at work to help them deal with the hot dry sunshiney day. all backup plants and the 904 double-flat viner were whacked, except the 1306 and 997 backup are still side by side. the 1306 looks a lot better with 2 nice days of weather, but still has yellowing right at the very tip of the new leaves. i think it will be fine and i still have time to let it prove itself out as the possible winner of that spot. the 997 backup right next to it has about a 3' main and the 1306 hasn't even laid down yet, so we will see. gonna be a tough call. the 1446 main tip has been wanting to twist on me and i have to keep adjusting the bamboo sticks to keep it in line. the 997 for sure keeper kicked ass in the last 2 days and has about a 3' main as well with big ole' leaves. the 1041 kicked in gear and should be laid down completely by tuesday. silt fences will go up tomorrow night before possible storms. i wanted to get as much breeze on the plants as possible tomorrow with the heat to help them adjust to the sun. only 5 to 10 mph winds predicted like today and the yard is completely fenced in anyways, so they will be fine wind wise and all vines are anchored above and below with bamboo. with this heat finally arriving, it will be go time now with burying vines with mych fungi at each leaf node. merit is already in the plants, but it won't be long before insecticide program starts. they will probably get their first hit of insecticide in about 7 to 10 days, or whenever the enemies arrive.
