...the early season wouldn't be complete without some problem. This plant was leggy at first with a deformed coteledyn. Then it developed a split in the stem. Now it's clearly flatvined. Notice the thick, wide vine with 2 leaves arising from the same node. I'm going to try the Jim Kuhn method of cure (flooding it with 40-50 gallons of water). If that doesn't work, I'm selecting a secondary vine and cutting the main early. My 988 from last year grew off a flat vined Eaton842, so all is not lost. I don't have a back up plant so I have to push this one.
