I am kicking myself in the butt I germinated around 15 seeds about 4 days ago using the paper plate paper towel method. I had everything set right and still had crappy results and a bunch of poor looking seedlings including my 1502 Wallace and 1343 Krug. I started another batch using my regular 4 inch pot method and I have 6 nice looking seedlings with a nice root showing. If the crappy ones recover I will have possibly wasted a good seed but I still want to have a nice 1502 and 1343 in my patch for 2008. If I end up with 2 of each I think I can find a good home for seedlings that good. I give the crappy looking ones about a 50/50 chance. My best one and first out of the pot with the biggest first root I have ever saw is the 1003 Marsh this has really got my attention quick. I also have a very aggressive 1100 Hester and the best looking one out of the crappy batch is the 1012 Hester and it looks real good even with all the problems that batch had. My 1101 Carter and 1334 Daletas look the worst they seem to have a bad spot on the cots that looks like rot. I did treat all of them with captan before they went in the towel for germination. I also have a very nice looking 1248 Ford and 1194 Christen that came up in the new batch. I lost both of those in the first batch. I am going to have some tough choices I wish the 1334 and 1343 looked better but time will tell.
