I'm building raised beds for four of my planting sites. The soil is raised 16 inches in an area 20 feet wide and 32 feet long. The ends will be open and will gradually fall to the same grade as the rest of the patch. This will give me an additional 18 inches of seed bed for the plants to grow in above the clay subsoil. Two plants will be grown back to back (six feet apart) in themiddle of each of these raised beds.
