this is a recent pic of the 940 Mombert '98 fruit o' mine. it is self-pollinated. i have thought all this time that the 940 X SELF cross was a rarity. sort-of; there are only two, with no reported offspring, listed in the AGGC. now i have the 'X SELF' cross in this pumpkin as well as in the 300-350-pound cull i took off this plant a month ago. yeah, they sprout, but i let the seeds get a little too ripe in the fruit, and a fluffy fungus develops on the seed as it waits to sprout. BUMMER! no fear>>>a little athlete's foot spray applied to the fluff actually killed the fluffungus, lol. the seedling is now growing nicely today! VISUAL estimate on this pumpkin is 550-600pounds.
