I also cut the 434 Gerhardt pumpkin from the vine this weekend. This is the first time I've shown the stem end. I had to coat the stem with fungicide a few weeks ago to prevent soft rot. Today was the first time I ever sprayed insecticide on cut pumpkins- squash bugs and cucumber beetles are all over them. the little white marks above the stem are from cucumber beetles eating the pumpkin. This is the nicest looking pumpkin I've ever grown or even seen for that matter.
