WARNING: The pic may be offensive to other giant mater growers....
First off I love this new look of Grower Diaries now I don't feel bad for posting more than one entry at a time as I would hate for people to get upset weeding through every thing.
Well here is the update, No not on my 700 Paynter it is doing ok did discover a stem split running with the grain about 2 1/2 feet from the stump but seems not to affecting the growth.
The update is with my maters... As you might know I pollinated and did some breeding on Sat. I beleive it was mentioned in an earlier entry. Well today the maters are starting to swell. The pic here shows my number 1 with sepals measured against a regular size lighter notice the length... Ya that is right roughly 3 1/2" inches across, fully stretched and once opened completly they will reach at least 4". Figuring this and adding at least 2 inches on the low side puts this monster mater at 8" across and I have noticed in past years with the sepals on the Thunder Creek Tomatoes you can add the length of the sepals on each side. Can ya say 1 foot across but this is just the top of the mater add an inch on each side for a middle measurement that's a whopping 14".
Yes these are just guestimates but are usaully pretty close similar to punkin weights and measures.
Will keep ya all posted
P.S. I will add some other updated pics now too...
