Lovely weather for pumpkins....NOT!! A clip from the weather service for our area: ...FREEZE WATCH THROUGH 8 AM SUNDAY FOR SOUTH-CENTRAL OREGON AND NORTHEAST CALIFORNIA...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MEDFORD OREGON HAS ISSUED A FREEZE WATCH THROUGH 8 AM SUNDAY FOR SOUTH-CENTRAL OREGON AND NORTHEAST CALIFORNIA. PEOPLE WITH SENSITIVE VEGETATION SHOULD PREPARE FOR THE UPCOMING FREEZE....

The heaters will be running in the 695 Handy greenhouse but the 1016 Daletas, 1247 Handy, 961 Daletas, and tiny 810 Dill plant have no protection. Looks like I'll be getting up before dawn again in case I need to hose off the frost.

The only good thing about all this cold weather is that I've been able to learn what a difference a greenhouse makes. Last night's low was 44 degrees but according to my min/max thermometer, greenhouse temperature never went below 59 degrees. The temperature stays warmer for much longer than it normally would after dark and I can only hope that it keeps the Handy pumpkin moving forward.
