Well, here we are. Fifty-five days from seed, 37 days since she went in the ground, and 4 days after pollination on the first fruit.

Main vine is pushing 22 feet, which feels good for where we're at in the year. The pumpkin I set at 17 feet is moving slow and honestly I'm not surprised. That first night after pollination we dropped to 33 degrees, which couldn't have helped. On top of that, the plant had only been in the ground 33 days at pollination, so I figure she's still pouring a lot of energy into root development rather than fruit. We'll see what she does, but I'm not counting her out yet.

The more exciting one is the fruit sitting at 21 feet out on the main. This is the one I've got real hope for. I've got her set up under a nursery tent to buffer those cold Vermont nights, and she should be ready to pollinate later this week. The timing here is much better: more mature plant, ideal number of days to weigh-off.
