Day 5: F: 2154 Sperry '23 x M: 2670 Thompson '24
Nothing special about this day other than it is the day of "touch down". Yesterday afternoon/evening the goal was to set-up the mill fabric, plywood, fan and sonicators. The idea is to get everything in place early so there is minimal disturbance to the area as the pumpkin gets larger.
The pumpkin at this stage seems to be made of "hot butter" so it is very susceptible to physical damage which is why the goal is to not come in contact with it unless it is absolutely necessary. A helping hand to push the plywood and mill fabric combination is welcomed as there is a lot to keep track of to prevent unwanted damage. Even though the pumpkin can still abort, it is slowly growing, but the key is that it still has its youthful shine to the skin. The back-up flower will still be pollinated just in case, but hopefully this is the one that will be the final "keeper".
