The first true leaf is beginning get stronger and more pronounced on day 6. The pumpkin spent the day indoors and grew significantly at its position by the rear sliding glass door of my home.
The weather today was wonderful, but also deceiving. With temperature of 89 I took the opportunity to move the pumpkin outdoors this afternoon. In the time it took me to change from business attire to home attire the wind intensity changed from non-existent to 45 mph gusts.
When I returned to check on the pumpkin seedling, the wind had successfully knocked it over on one side so it lay flat against the dirt. I quickly moved the pot back inside and adjusted the plant back in the upright position.
The outdoor adventures will need to wait a few more days until the roots are further developed, when the wind decreases, and the vigor of the overall plant improves.
