Clay Busters & Honey Hole Update.
The Clay Busters double dig is on hold for a bit while the search for more old manure, compost and sand continues.
Composting with clay soil is a challenge. Found using nitrogen robbing wood chips provides nice clay aeration.
Have plenty of chopped fresh green sticks and old leaves. Good therapy is hand cutting up shrubs and sticks.

Two weeks ago I lied when I said I put the patch to bed. Simply that is not a Moron thing.

The Honey Hole Progress continues in earnest now. Trying to complete a triple dig maneuver in the central pit area > found using a long deep drill 3" auger bit was strenuous but very effective at sub aeration. So after many holes and a deep rotating rip, then plan to run air vent & weeping tile. Finally setting in the heat cables ASAP. Was able to drill at least 24" to 30" in depth. Backfilling each hole with a the parent surface soil. the composted soil is a sandy/loamy party pack fortified with 5 pounds of Insect Frass and 10 pounds of Worm Castings.
Coffee grounds continue to be added when available.
