I can't believe it is September 1st already, this year has flown by.
Here I am on September 1st sitting tight with an absolute Orange Monster doing her thing in the Patch (Growing & Showing)!
This Big Girl is out of my own 2405 from last year. I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to be able to grow a fruit so Big & Orange out of my own seed. She is hovering right around the 2,000 lb mark just like her mama last year on the same date. She's not as pretty as her MaMa with her rough and tough appearance, but what I will tell is she is built like an 82 Buick!!
Not sure where I plan to take her as of yet. The obvious weigh-off would be to take her up to Barnesville and see if we can take home back to back King Pumpkin Championships. I would really like to run her out to Kali but I don't have the time for that trip. I do really like idea of heading up to Park's with the Ohio Valley Guys, what a great group of Growers. Infact, I am will to say: Collectively the best group of growers in the world! Then we have Operation Pumpkin with the biggest purse around.
I know one thing forsure I am not taking her anywhere near the state of New York, I heard there is a Family Growing Team up there that are rewriting the way to grow, and just pushing straight Monsters out of thier patch!!
Only time will tell.... I Will let the fruit & plant health dictate my time line and that Big Girl will tell me when she's ready for the BIG Show!!
