The season wasn’t what I dreamed of but so goes the ups and downs of growing these things. My early hopes of having 3 carefree plants and early sets was on track until the Yohe plant was aborting everything and my 2365 main rotted before the pumpkin so I was down to 1 main vine pumpkin on my 839 from last year. The 1885 Werner is the Hottest Seed on the planet so my cross with the flame orange 1665 MacDonald surely is worthy of a grow. Let’s roll 839. All was good with my end of June pollination until I began to notice the divot developing on the top of the pumpkin. Oh well I had to roll with it and now blame it on the deformed blossom it had. I like a good bean so be it. The plant was the smallest of my 3 main plants but the fruit grew at a nice pace. Picking day arrived. Hey my great niece had a perfect place to sit.
