Season Summary: 2022 was another hot summer with virtually no rain June - August. Despite a lot of watering and plant care, the pollinations I got on the main vine would grow to basketball size, then stop growing but stay alive for 20 - 30 days, get warty, then die. Pollinations on secondaries didn't fare much better. Finally got a couple of pollinations on tertiaries at the end of August that went nowhere quick. Hoping that 2023 goes better. Tallest tall corn was 17-18 feet. On a positive note, I gave a beginners seminar & gave away seeds last week to a group of Master Gardeners who were interested in giant pumpkin growing. It was nice to give a presentation on something other than poison ivy, and hopefully grow the hobby here in central Iowa.
