Grow same seed if I can find it- the 2174 Daletas ‘20
Disease report a month after clearing out patch showed very high Fusarium oxysproum and very high general pythium but not pythiu ultimum
AGAIN – likely too much water and lack of circulation despite fans – change water to q.o.d
When bury secondaries – don’t cut off the tertiary – just bury it and cut tendrils at 2” to limit entry port for infection. Too lazy to touch sulfur to every snip.
The rot at the leaf bases may be lack of air circulation – change the aluminum wind fence to some other sort of deer barricade – this patch is in their living room. I’m told lack of wind stress against young leaves produces tall leaf stems with poor tensile strength against thunder storms –maybe put up the wind fence only at the narrow East and West ends, leaving the N and S sides to be blocked by the tree line and corn field. Use a wire mess there.
Ca++ only 1500 – should be over 1800 with no upper limit “can’t have too much calcium”. Correct this with application this fall before tilling and again in spring. Stronger vine and pumpkin shell.
See everybody in ’23 – hope some of you produced some monsters!
