I have been doing some research and I found this article, recent research is indicating that incomplete or poor pollination early in the season may be a factor in hollow heart. I need to start hand pollinating and test this theory. The weather was still on the cool side here in late June. Not a great environment to transfer pollen in. Also around here the native bee populations don't really get started until later in the summer. In June all I see is a few honeybees or bumblebees available to pollinate.
