Insect Netting

To help create a bug free environment over both of the intake vents and the exhaust vents large box frames are created to allow insect netting to be attached to. It is important to create this extra box and not simply put a sheet of insect netting over the vent because a simple sheet would restrict the air flow greatly.

A fine mesh material is used to exclude even small insects so by creating this large surface area of material the flow of air is not restricted.

Insect netting specifics:
Protek Net Insect Netting in the 25 gr model
This is Protek Net Insect Netting in the 25 gr model. Some of the specifications are that it has 0.35mm x 0.35mm mesh size with 62% porosity, 90% light transmission, and a 2-3 year stated lifespan. This fine mesh was selected to provide a physical barrier to small insects such as aphids, thrips, white flies and mites but required the special boxes to not restrict overall air flow.
