Step 1: Hacksaw Blade
Take a hacksaw blade and cut vertically down the center of the vine for about 6-10” depending on the severity of the water accumulation. The goal is to allow water to easily drain and not accumulate in any low spots on the vine.
It is hard to see in the image, but soil has been removed below the vine to allow any water that comes out an easy place to go and drain away from the plant.
