Late last summer I made my pumpkin patch a bit smaller. Instead of being 100'x 120', now it is 76'x 120'. The difference with the 24' of soil, I took that soil and pushed it onto the center of the pumpkin patch than tapered it towards all four sides of the patch. The sides are about 6" above the lawn level and tapper up to about a foot and a half in the center. One huge raised bed pumpkin patch now. The photo gives an idea of how much the center is raised above the sides. My patch did drain good before, but I see a huge difference already this year with some heavy rains we have had
