9 days until harvest, just discovered the main vine rotted off a foot from stump. Stump was not soft but it looks to be dead and gone as well. Most of the main is rotting badly. I weed wacked heavy weeds 2 weeks ago that grew as the plant died by the main. Cleared the area again tonight and it was an ugly scene, all mush! Have about 4 feet of good vine before fruit, that is it. Growth slowed down a few days ago, now I know why. Just trying to keep the fruit safe the last 9 days, doesn't look like I will be adding much more weight. We made the 400 club, ott is 403.5 inches. Our only hope is we go heavy, Mr Dunn has a larger fruit than us. But in our high heat climate, it is hard to go heavy. Gonna be 100 degrees again this weekend, not the best weather.
