The photo in the paper drummed up a huge amount of attention today! Fast asleep 6am and phone rings, its 2UE radio requesting a chat. 6:35am 2UE live on radio. 6:40am 3AW radio Melbourne, live answering questions. Off to work, then 1:30pm 4BC radio Brisbane, live on radio for about 5 minutes joking over how much pumpkin soup and scones it will make.
Then a call from a TV program wanting to film some sort of documentary with the pumpkin and how to grow, etc. Again I said, "Yeah no problem!" Will get back to me, maybe do it on Monday....
Thought it was all over for the day. At home 5 messages on answering machine! Did another talkback show 8:10pm, a good five minutes or so! Will be doing talkback tomorrow on 2HD Newcastle. Also ABC radio Perth were interested, but talked to Wendy Stayner during the day. Will be doing a 6:30am talkback on the 2UE garden show, both Saturday and Sunday. Also might be having the channel 10 TV weather read live in front of the pumpkin tomorrow night, with probably a few questions thrown in. Host Tim Bailey, they wanted to do it there today.... Would be watched by at least half a million! We'll see tomorrow morning when I ring them back. Managed a few name drops of bigpumpkins.com today, which was good!
All this before the pumpkin has even been cut from the vine. Hopefully its going to be of record weight!!!
