Going to boost nitrogen intake on the plants slightly starting this morning to help sustain plant life through mid October. At this point I feel the melons are demanding much more from the plants than they are taking in. It is now very warm and humid in the 90's with night time temps in the 70's. Once again the 70's at night with dew is a perfect breeding ground for downy mildew and the likes on fungus so we will foliar spray fungicides a bit more often and I will give one more drench of systemic for bugs & disease. There is more noticeable leaf age on the plants so again the up tic for foliar spraying for disease is a must. This last stretch of the race is where I think in the past I have lost control of my patches. I also feel for the 1st time the patches need weeding, not bad but could easily get out of control with all the rains we have been having. This is where my daughter's smaller feet come in! I'm a bull in a china cabinet. I know the plants are very health still because of all the culls coming out of them.
