My newspaper ( 4 photos)experiment,I used both shredded and sheet newspaper to cover the rooting area of the vines. To see if its practical to use I simply dunked a handful of paper in water very quickly and slapped it on, as if in a hurry burying vines. I never watered the paper again but it did get rained on once, the paper was dry when I took these photos. In the shredded paper photo the sunlight is obscuring the root, but it looks similar to the roots under the sheet paper. I did this in 8 locations and at one of them the root grew into folds of the sheet paper and never reached the ground so shredded may be better. The paper has been on for 8 days, I dont know if there are practical ways to use this, it may be useful during heavy rains . I only added the dirt on top of one of the locations, it didn't seem to change anything
