Now it's time for the soil test results. If we compare April with September, we can see that AG's are heavy Calcium & Potassium feeders. Looking back to April, we can also see that our Magnesium levels were too high as a result of using dolomitic Limestone to correct what was a pH of 4.8 back in 1995 when this patch was started. This had a negative impact on the Calcium:Magnesium ratio that I have battled for years. We're finally out of the woods.
This year I was more meticulous in the use of fertilizers & inseason adjustments. Manganese was supplied by foliar applications so despite the soil deficiency, tissue results never wavered.
Despite having access to foliar "band-aids", I'll seek to correct these values in the steps ahead.
