I am very excited to see that the Bigzarro is living up to its name.
The flowers pictured are growing from the "suckers" between the first true leaves and the stalk at the base of the plant.
I have read an excerpt in a book that infers the suckers actually grow larger tomatoes than if the blooms were in the typical locations. So these are very good. I'd like to cross this plant with one of the others to get this trait into the larger tomato genetics.
I used the moisture meter last night and the bigzarro was at 3.5. all others were 0.0 and very dry. I gave a heavy watering to all of the plants and they appear to have really grown in one day.
Also, buzzed the bigzarro blossom to help pollinate. I don't think it is dropping any pollen yet.
On the topic of pumpkins: I am wondering why more growers are not doing a blossom down grow? Wouldn't that eliminate the possibility of Dil Line cave-ins? it seems like it would be more structurally sound. Am I wrong? have any pumpkins over 2,000 pounds been grown like that? If so, I'd like to see a photo.
Note: I run the lights at night and they are in the dark during the day.
