I've decided to harvest the 1998 Jutras for the fair next week. I'm concerned about the stem problems(2 in a few weeks) and the fact it sounds hollow when thumped, indicating it will go light to chart when weighed.
My own 1114 is solid, no problems yet, and looks great,ex- cept for a few small blemishes. It weighs about 160 lbs(chart weight) less than the Jutras, but still stands a good chance of going over 1000 lbs 6 weeks from today. It's doing great for a pumpkin grown with only about 6 hours of sunlight a day.
Be prepared for the funeral of my smallest pumpkin, Harley Quinn. I don't believe the rehab and intensive care saved her from the Big Nothing after the blossom fell off. :'(
