811.5 Schweigert. If you grow blossom down the upward growing pumpkin can kink the vine. The vine angle down to the pumpkin was very high on this one which makes it more prone to kinking later because the vine would have to be raised more to keep that high angle. The lowest angle that allows the vine to avoid the sides of the pumpkin would best? With a long stemmed pumpkin hanging down 90 degrees might work but a shorter stemmed one like this one... Well it's got to be angled down. This vine going into the pumpkin was angled down too steeply though and it kinked as the pumpkin grew up.
Doing my best to deal with it... a great cross (x1462 Gibson) in the position I wanted. It's the one the plant wanted too so im trying to make it work.
