This is currently the largest pumpkin in the patch and it is holding its shape. The plant has developed what I am going to call a leaking crown. Often “foaming stumps” are caused by disease causing water to back-up in the plant, but what I think I may have is simply a water back-up related to the heat and humidity that has been the recent weather pattern. I have not had to drill any portion of the vine and there have been no flies so I am hoping I am in the clear with this plant, but time will tell.
