I gave each plant 50 gallons of water with various fertilizers after digging down a foot in my patch and finding soil as a whole wasn't soaked. Apparently my cover crops and using a broadfork with 16 inch tines have worked wonders since the days of so much clay in the soil nothing would grow except weeds. But it's taken me over 10 years to get here. If the weather gets to be more sun than rain, I will increase the water after I finish deadheading my vines.
