Under the canopy. I dig 6" to 8" under each node and place all the goodies. I then place a good amount of dirt on the top for those upper tap roots. Once things have rooted in a couple weeks later,,, I come in with the house and spray all the dirt away from the vines. I get disease really easy and this really, really helps later in the season. Plant maintenance right now is full speed ahead!
