1495 Snyder – Transplanted May 11 sprouted 4/27 – so 38 days since sprouting – doing well.
Got too big for the frame last night – so it on its own in the brutals of Pennsylvania weather.
I finally “cut the mustard” (waited a month to say that) a few days ago on the advice of a fellow grower – what a mess – that stuff is 99% water and gummed up my lawn tractor cutting deck. Scraped off the gunk and raked it off the patch – leaving 1000 macerated stalks. After some drying these last few days, raked the still mushy gunk back onto the experimental mustard section of the patch and rototilled it in. Actually produced a surprisingly small amount of volume, given the robust appearance of the live plants. We’ll see.
