First timer in NY. Second timer in my life (first time in Idaho cows trampled plant) seeds just hit dirt today. I was told not to plant until memorial day but after looking at the fellow N.E. grower diaries I see I am late to the game. Got a few seeds from Holland giants. Goal is a 1k lb pumpkin. I'm very worried about soil quality. I spent some time (and money) trying to improve it but last year the soil struggled to grow small variety squash. Also a bit worried about deer. Excited to do this with my 4 year old. He doesn't understand why there isn't already magically pumpkins after planting the seeds 5 minutes ago. Should be fun and hope to be able to pic some of your brains along the way. Ryan and Sawyer Larochelle
