Nice growing weather here lately. I am getting some sunburn on a few of the leaves, but not a big problem IMO.
Yesterday I culled the back up pumpkin on the main vine, so now I'm down to just one, that was pollinated on July 12. I didn't measure how far out on the main vine it is set, but I'm guessing it's around 17 or 18'. The pumpkin therefore has a nice amount of plant behind it. No cucumber beetles noticed this year(or last year for that matter). I am leaving some of the developing male flowers on the plant, in case I get a late infestation of cucumber beetles. In the past I've noticed they seem to prefer the male flowers, as opposed to munching on the pumpkin leaves.
The pumpkin has nice oval shape early on, and is yellow in color. My 435.5 is 603.5 Muller 03 X self, so I'm hoping I've captured the nice orange color, and heavy to the chart genes that the 603.5 Muller progeny exhibited.
