Then I put down a piece of 1 inch open pore Styrofoam (the cheap stuff). Poke a lot of holes with a screwdriver in case water gets on it. I think this insulates the kin from the ground, which in turn keeps it from rolling over on its blossom end. It also provides a thin cushion and for them most part we always have very flat bottoms using this method.
