So, I see Richmond Dave is about to plow under his covercrop now that we have a few nice sunny days in the weather forcast...

I have turned over the soil in the planting spots and will wrap my hoophouses also in the next few days. We use one hoophouse that is 16' x 12' and heated at night and we use the small 4' x 3' one on the other patch and just use a shielded 40 watt light bulb to keep it over 50 degrees overnight.

Past 3 years the smaller hoophouse has produced the bigger pumpkin than the plant grown inside the hoophouse for a much longer time...obviously the plant inside the bigger hoop gets larger faster....the other plant tends to be tougher and has outgrown its rival...this will be the last year I use the bigger hoophouse if the small one beats it again...
