At long last I am in a state where I can grow a big pumpkin. Believe it or not I actually took pumpkin growing into consideration when I purchased my home. I have also a full acre to work with here in Centennial CO, with no trees or anything to shade the plants. I am considering growing two plants but will defiantly have at lease one. I have done nothing to prepare my patch so I figure this year will be my test run. I am going to gather some soil this weekend - which I should have done long ago - and send it off to get tested.

When the snow melts I will till, try to plant a quick cover crop. When I'm ready to put the plants in the patch i will till again, put the pumpkin in hoops, rye outside the hoops and till again before they leave the hoops.

I plan on putting the patch near the bottom of the hill, and a LG tank at the top of the hill to warm the water and let it de-chlorinate. If thats even necessary?

Any tip-hint-suggestion is always welcome!
