I ran into a good friend at the weigh-in at the Tennessee Valley Fair this afternoon. Brother David Cantrell was checking in the melons and making sure the fair display is attractive. He has done a great job. The display looks way more professional this year than it has at any time I have gone there over the decades. Dave is trying to raise monies to turn this weigh-in into a GPC weigh-off next year. I hope a lot of growers will help him to get this done through our donations of seeds and money for seeds. I think Dave is a get it done kind of guy and am just happy to have him for a friend.
