270 Neptune has slowed dramatically although the weather has been great. OTT score showed it at around 177 pounds this evening so a weekly gain of only about 12 pounds so it may be under 2 pounds a day now. Still 41 days to go until Raleigh though so maybe it will make 200 pounds and win enough to make my trip worthwhile. Or Allardt may still be an option if I choose not to compete with the big growers. But even 4th place at Raleigh pays $400 and 10 places are being paid and there may not be that many late melons so I am leaning toward a North Carolina trip if I can keep my plant healthy for that long.
