This is my first attempt at growing a giant anything. We purchased this home on 2 acres last year, and my intent was to cover the 30' x 50' garden bed with visqueen to give the once lawn a year to rest. Looking at all that weed free real eastate, I figured I could at least grow a sprawling pumpkin plant to make it useful. Now, after irrigation, pruning, and many other mods that has destroyed the visqueen, I am trying to stay current with the learning curve. In hindsight the visqueen was a bad idea for the goal of growing a giant. I've had to cut slits at each node to allow the sideshoot roots to touch ground.
