Been gone for a spell. Well a Winter storm is bearing down on us here in Midwestern Illinois on the Mississipi so the best thing I figured to do after stocking up on food and TP.....break out the germin box and start on some Carolina cross seeds to do some various grafting Techniques. Going to use a rooting hormone on the grafts to try and get extra roots to take above and below the graft area creating a triple root system and bury it all providing juice to a single scion. Am also doing some grafting of cantaloupes to carolina cross rootstock and will grow them in the basement for a spell through January just to observe the stem area/rootstock growth in 5 gal containers heated. Two AG seeds that will see dirt in the Spring here are the 1872 Wallace and the 1756 Lancaster to start with. Had some testing done and found out I need to stop feeding Molasses to the AG's in the later stages of growth...Thats what blew out and rotted the 801 this last season. Too much of a good thing so I'm going to use the mollasses on the same schedule as all Nitrogen, use it up till fruit set and then back off about 95%. Its still great for the early soil and root structure but bad for the set fruit..nuff said. Merry Christmas to ALL and Happy New Years to Come!!!
