After a ton of rain last night and some warm blankets on the pumpkin the split has widened and has some sap around it and the hairline crack above it. Where I have been willing it to grow I am now willing it to stop so that I don't lose it to a split. First noticed the split the day after spraying with 0-0-28 but could just be a coincidence as I hadn't checked the stem for a few days anyway.
