102F. for the temp in the screen house this afternoon. Terminated all vines on the 144 Cantrell past two days. Spread sand and buried all remaning vines and watered Termed ends. 144 Cantrell has out grown its first 4' x 6' tunnel. I'm not suggesting it measure that it's just you want enough distance from the sides so thhat the radiant heat from the sun doesn't cook it, but it is growing nicely. Will replace it with the larger tunnel that was on the Cielsielski Melon before the vine went on it. The Cielsielski Melon by the way weighed 72 lbs uow and was darn tasty to boot. 34 days old and was as red and sweet as could be, no kidding. I didn't know watermelon got ribs on them, the 144 Cantrell is again kicking into over drive with the heat and ribbing now and like I said has out grown the first tunnel I put over it. 1248 Sundstrom is still growing, so much so I'm now concerned about a center post 4 x 4 just inches to the right of it...Can you say "Sister Brace"? Handyhomegrown knows what I mean,lol.
