I was cleaning up the patch and I had NO intention of harvesting seed from a couple of melons that quit growing early due to my screw-ups. At the last minute I decided to at least cut them open and one had the usual void and then there was this. Now comes a whole new group of questions. Is it solid because it quit growing early although its neighbors were not that much older? Genetics? If it's genetic how many genes have to be there to get it solid? Did one of my screw-ups cause this? Etc. Etc. Now do I keep seeds with hopes it can go big and solid? Do I plant multiples of the same mother seed in hopes of going large AND getting a solid one? Hmmm
